10 Years of Moments

Since opening its doors in September 2015, Exhibition Centre Liverpool has charted an extraordinary journey, one filled with creativity, community and unforgettable moments. As we look ahead to the next 10 years, we want to take a moment to revisit some of the highlights that have shaped us...

ECL 10: 10 Years of Moments

• September 2015 – Exhibition Centre Liverpool officially opens. Built from early 2014, it includes a striking sky-bridge linking to ACC Liverpool and M&S Bank Arena. In its first year alone, it welcomed over 113,000 visitors and hosted more than 100 events.

• 2016 – The centre fortified its place as a hub for both consumer moments and political stages. It hosted its first large-scale consumer exhibition, a STEM event for young people, and served as a key venue for the Labour Party Conference.

• 2018 – Comic Con Liverpool makes its debut in March with stars including Verne Troyer. The centre continues to broaden its horizons with immersive, fun-filled, and pop culture-led events.

• 2019-2021 – We welcomed in new conventions, supported student recruitment events, and navigated the challenges of COVID-19 with resilience. Our doors reopened with joy and a packed programme of fairs, shows, and celebrations.

• 2022 – A vibrant blend of professional development and consumer experiences: from fitness expos to cultural fan events, and gin tasting to dance conventions.

• 2023 – A year of big stages: we played host as part of our city’s Eurovision Song Contest 2023 activity; returned fan favourites like Comic Con, UK Drum Show and The Ultimate Show; and welcomed global businesses

• 2024-25 – Over the past two years we’ve celebrated the UK premieres of Beyond Van Gogh and Beyond Monet, drawing thousands of visitors; hosted the biggest ever Comic Con Liverpool; welcomed back major business and trade events; and marked the return of the Labour Party Conference.

There’s something for everyone here at Exhibition Centre Liverpool, and there are big moments still to come!
