Liverpool’s Regional Events

Culture, music, food and the arts feature prominently in the many varied events that take place in Liverpool city region each year. Echo Arena, sister venue to Exhibition Centre Liverpool, draws stars and top performers from around the world. Liverpool celebrates its strong bond with Ireland in the Liverpool Irish Festival, while the Biennial Art Festival gives contemporary art one of its biggest UK promotions.

In 2018 Echo Arena Liverpool is celebrating 10 years since it opened its doors. The venue has hosted more than 1,100 performances since it opened on January 12 2008 and has brought hundreds of high profile artists, comedians, major sporting events and family shows to Liverpool and 2018 will continue to see a packed program of world class entertainment.

Rapid Response Unit is a year of news seen through the lens of leading national and international artists as they respond to global events and world stories as they happen. Each day, week or fortnight from the end of February to December, commissioned artists and performers, paired with some of the city's most innovative and acclaimed arts and cultural organisations, will produce challenging new work based on, and inspired by, a key story or topic that is in the headlines. And the final artistic work will also be performed or exhibited at venues across the city.

A ground-breaking exhibition telling John Lennon and Yoko Ono's story in their own words. The exhibition explores the personal and creative chemistry of this iconic couple and their ongoing Imagine Peace campaign. Featuring personal objects alongside art, music and film produced by both John and Yoko, the exhibition is drawn from Yoko’s own private collection, some of which has never been displayed.
