The Federation of Petroleum Suppliers FPS Expo took place in Exhibition Centre Liverpool in April.
Where was the event held before?
The event is 30 years old and has been held in numerous locations including Harrogate for 15 years before moving to Liverpool.
The ACC Liverpool team was in talks with FPS for eight years but did not have a venue large enough to accommodate the conference. The opening of Exhibition Centre Liverpool meant that talks could resume and the event could be held in Liverpool for the first time.
Why did you come to Exhibition Centre Liverpool?
As Dawn Shakespeare, marketing and events manager of the Federation of Petroleum Suppliers, says: “Having the opportunity to be involved with a new venue really appealed to us. Liverpool is seen as an untapped region in the exhibition market and has massive potential.
“The exhibition centre enabled us to grow and expand our event, something we have looked to do in previous years and would like to continue to do in the future. The venue is very flexible and as there are also other venues on site it provides us with many possibilities for the future.”
What was the objective of the event?
This was the 36th annual FPS EXPO, the largest annual event for people working in the oil and fuel distribution industry
It enables visitors to see and experience first-hand the latest technology, products and services from new tankers and tyres through to the most innovative software yet to reach the market, as well as network with many of the leading industry professionals.
What was the format of the event?
There were more than 150 exhibitors showcasing every possible products and services. The exhibition provided excellent networking opportunities, a forum for the exchange of best practice and a presidents’ reception for exhibitors and members.
A golf day at nearby Shrigley Hall golf and Country Club and an evening event at Circo, a restaurant and bar in the adjacent Albert Dock, were arranged as part of the social programme.
Who were the key exhibitors?
Scania, Wincanton, MAN Truck and Bus UK Ltd, Philips 66 UK, RTN, Kingspan Environmental, Hytek, Emco Wheaton, Pen Underwriting incorporating OAMPS, Williams Tankers, Valero Energy and Mabanaft Ltd, Suttons Group, TIP Trailer Services UK Ltd, Essar Oil UK Ltd and Tyretracks Ltd to name but a few.
POST EVENT ANALYSIS
What was the feedback from visitors/exhibitors?
Visitor numbers were up on previous years with 1200 attendees from around the globe, including from the USA, China and Europe.
Dawn added: “We were excited about accompanying ACC Liverpool on its exciting journey as, when we held our event, Exhibition Centre Liverpool was only seven months old. We are pleased to say the venue and the team didn’t disappoint and were available for all our requests.
“We received some very positive feedback from exhibitors who congratulated us on setting the industry standard and many said it was the best show yet.”
FPS takes place in Exhibition Centre Liverpool next May, with FPS due to return again in 2018. The event is free to enter and visitors need to register online at www.fpsshow.co.uk.
Talks are underway about expanding the event in the future.
