Exhibition Centre Liverpool is today (September 2nd) celebrating one year since it opened its doors.
More than 113,000 visitors have attended 100 public and trade exhibitions since the venue opened. These include MCM Comic Con which attracted 23,000 people, Liverpool Football Club’s Player of the Year Awards and the International Festival for Business (IFB 2016) – the world’s leading business festival which saw 26,000 delegates attend from all over the world over three weeks.
An adjoining four-star hotel, Pullman Liverpool, opened on the site in February. Both Exhibition Centre Liverpool and Pullman Liverpool were officially opened by The Queen during a visit to IFB 2016 in June.
The venue’s first event in September 2015 was a trade exhibition, Wound UK, which returns this month. During the launch period, an opening party for 800 guests featured a spectacular opening sequence with acrobatic displays, a flash mob and Craig Charles DJ-ing on the back of a truck to demonstrate the venue’s flexibility and capabilities.
Exhibition Centre Liverpool is the latest addition to The ACC Liverpool Group venues which also include BT Convention Centre and Echo Arena. The venues are linked by a pedestrian bridge making the complex the only integrated arena, convention and exhibition centre in Europe.
Bob Prattey, chief executive of The ACC Liverpool Group, said: “The opening of Exhibition Centre Liverpool has enabled us to provide more options for clients when looking for a flexible venue to stage exhibitions, conferences, banquets, entertainment and sporting events, in addition to our existing arena and convention centre.
“There have been many highlights over the past year, each event has been unique and we were honoured to welcome The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh in June. As we enter our second year, we look forward to another busy calendar of events such as the European Association of International Education and the Labour Party conference, which will be the first event to use our entire campus.”
A number of returning events have signed multi-year deals such as The Liverpool Wedding Show, MCM Comic Con, The Allergy and Free From Show, Big Bang North West and The Baby and Beyond Show. The Netball World Cup will also utilise the exhibition centre when it takes place across the campus in 2019.
Exhibition Centre Liverpool has more than doubled the existing 7,125 sqm of exhibition space at ACC Liverpool to 15,225 sqm of integrated and flexible event facilities. A single building containing 8,100 sqm can be divided into three 2,700 sqm halls. It features a glazed atrium with waterfront views, food and beverage outlets, multiple meeting rooms, external balconies, external exhibition space and a business centre
